When Pain becomes your Platform
What do you do when your world is turned upside down?
On April 21, 2008, Katherine Wolf experienced a massive brain stem stroke from the rupturing of an AVM, a rare congenital defect she didn’t even know she had.
She was rushed to UCLA’s Medical Center. When she got there one of the world’s best neurosurgeons, Dr. Nestor Gonzalez, was on call. According to Dr. Gonzalez, it was the largest AVM he had ever seen in the worst location.
Katherine was not expected to live.
After a 16 hour surgery, the very tired & exhausted Dr. Nester Gonzalez walked into the waiting room to see Katherine’s husband, Jay.
The good news? Katherine had survived the surgery. She’s alive.
The bad news? We don’t know what her life will look like. She will have limitations. Maybe severe limitations. She may never wake up. But for now, she’s alive.
It wasn’t long after that, Katherine did wake up. Not only did she wake up… she was able to respond to commands. In the words of her Doctor, it was a miracle.

And now, Katherine is able to talk. She is able to walk with the assistance of a cane. She is able to be a mother to her children.
Her story isn’t easy. Her story isn’t over. Because of nerve damage, half her face is paralyzed. But she speaks to thousands of people all around the world. And you know what the talks about? The greatness of our God!
In her words, pain is your platform.
“The pain I’ve experienced in my story has become this incredible platform and you get to do this, Lord now my life can point to you in a special way.”
Your pain can become your platform to proclaim the goodness of God and point people to the only God who saves.
