It was both an honor and a blessing to share in this conversation with my friend Bryan Moss as we consider together what it means for us as followers of Jesus to be peacemakers in a world often motivated by fear in order to maintain the status quo and “keep the peace.” Jesus, always motivated by love, teaches us a different way to live in this world.
Bryan serves as the Senior Pastor for the Lake Como Church of Christ in Fort Worth, TX. I’m grateful for his friendship, for his leadership in the church, and his desire to participate in making things on earth as they are in heaven.
“A commitment to the status quo or cryptic gradualism would be this generation of ministers’ response to the civil rights era and the race question.” – “Blessed are the Peacemakers: Martin Luther King Jr., Eight White Religious Leaders, and the ‘Letter from the Birmingham Jail.’” by S. Jonathan Bass
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-8
This conversation was recorded for the Riverside Church in July 2020 and can be viewed on the Riverside YouTube Channel.
