Advent: May worship be our anthem - corey trevathan

Advent: May worship be our anthem

“And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.” Luke 1.31

Meditation

As Mary prepared to carry & hold in her womb the Son of God, her soul burst forth in praise.  Her heart was full of worship.  After 400 years of silence, God would speak again. This time, His voice would be heard at the sound of the baby’s first cry.  After drawing His first breath, this child that was unlike any other child before & would be unlike any child after would cry & the sound would resonate throughout the Heaven’s.  God in flesh?  How can it be?  A Savior, born?  A Deliverer, in infant form?  The Messiah, in a manger?  Overwhelmed with the promise of this child, Mary sings.  Her response worship.  Our response?  We sing along.  For the Messiah has come.

Prayer

Abba Father, May my soul respond in worship today at the thought that Messiah Jesus has come & is coming again.  When Mary first received the good news about Jesus her soul burst forth in praise.  May my response be the same.  Every time I receive Christ afresh may I respond in unbridled praise.  May worship be my anthem as we behold Jesus, the Son of God, this advent.

Amen.
