15 Years Ago Today, She Said, “I DO!”

I still remember how excited I was the day she walked down the aisle at the Botanical Gardens in Huntsville, AL.  You pray for God to bless you & then one day you look up & realize that for 15 years He’s gifted you with this person who has changed your life for the better.  Marriage is more than this world acknowledges.  For those of us who believe Jesus is who He says He is, it’s so much more.  It’s God giving you a person to be & to express His love to in tangible ways every day.  When I love her well, unconditionally, through ups & downs, through missteps & leaps of faith, at her best & at her worst, deserved & undeserved, then I’ve shown her the love of her Heavenly Father.  And when she has loved me well, unconditionally, forgiving when it’s undeserved, patient when I’m hard to get along with, kind when I’ve been unkind, never bringing up my past faults & failures, but always hoping for me, through the good days & those that weren’t so good, then she has shown me the tangible love of our Heavenly Father.  And for the past 15 years we’ve been blessed to do this. Imperfectly.  But I pray we get to keep at it the rest of our days.  Sharing in, showing each other what the love of God looks like as we try to love each other with His perfect, steadfast, never-failing, never-ending love.

Once upon a time we made a promise & 15 years later with 3 kids in the back seat we’re still moving forward!  I praise God & thank God for you Alisha!  Happy Anniversary!
